Festival of Fishers Ghost

Festival Of Fisher’s Ghost, is a unique event, inspired by the famous legend of the ghost of Fred Fisher. The festival is rich in community history, dating back to 1956.

The Campbelltown City Festival of Fisher´s Ghost is one of the longest running community events in Australia. Originally conceived in 1956 as an annual celebration to raise funds for new facilities and services, the festival went through several names. During that same period, the legend of Fisher’s Ghost experienced an unexpected rise in popularity, fuelled by Sydney radio stations and crowds gathered at Fisher’s
Ghost Creek hoping to spot the famous ghost.
Campbelltown Councillor, Greg Percival suggested combining the festival and the legend and in 1960, the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost was born.

The Festival is now a two week event with a variety of activities to appeal to everyone.

Some of these include:

The Prestigious Fishers Ghost Art Award and Exhibition: The Fisher’s Ghost Art Award is an annual art prize and exhibition inviting artists to submit works in a variety of artistic categories and mediums. Now in its 62nd year, there is over $60,000 in prize money to be won across the categories. In 2024, the celebrated Open Award, which is acquisitive to the Campbelltown City Council Art Collection, is valued at $50,000.

The Fishers Ghost Carnival: A festival of rides and carnival activities suited to everyone in the family.

Sunset Sounds: Bring your picnic chair and your buddies for the rock vibes and country beats of Sunset Sounds. This is the Fisher’s Ghost Festival’s very own music festival, headlined by a leading Australian rock band.

Put the first two weeks in November in your Calendar and see if you can find Fred!
