Appin Massacre Memorial Ceremony

April is a time for remembering, healing, and reconciliation. Winga Myamly Reconciliation Group, the Aboriginal community and supporting service providers invite all interested residents to attend the Appin Massacre memorial service. The ceremony is to remember the Dharawal people who perished in the massacre in 1816.

Join a community gathering, followed by the ceremony.

Attendees are encouraged to bring suitable footwear, hats, sunscreen, and bottled water. Foldable chairs are suggested due to limited seating. As food options are limited, those with specific dietary needs should consider bringing their own provisions. Accessible parking is available, with a short walk to the memorial site. A bus service will be provided for those unable to walk the short distance to the site.

Campbelltown City Council will also hold a memorial flag raising ceremony in the forecourt of the Council building.

A time for the community to remember those who perished and to show their commitment to Reconciliation.
