The City of Campbelltown has two sister-city relationships – Koshigaya in Japan and Coonamble in outback NSW.
Sister City relationships promote communication and friendship, and provide opportunities to experience a different way of life. Exchange programs, official visits, special events and shared resources are all features of a successful Sister City relationship.
Campbelltown’s relationship with Koshigaya began in 1982, and was made official in 1984. The Sister City relationship is still being celebrated as it now enters its 38th year in 2020.
In 2002, Campbelltown developed a relationship with Coonamble as part of the year of the Outback celebrations. The relationship was so successful it was made permanent, and continues today to promote resource sharing between councils, and foster a greater understanding between urban and rural Australia.
